Description:
Those seeking AASECT Certification as a Sex Therapist or Sex Counselor are invited to join the regularly scheduled AASECT Group Supervision Meeting.
These Group Supervision Meetings are a way for those seeking AASECT Certification to accumulate hours in a timely manner. In the Group Meetings participants benefit from sharing cases, projects, research and learning experiences with each other, receiving feedback and suggestions, forming bonds with peers and are getting more involved in the Association. Attendees also gain 8 AASECT Group Supervision hours toward Certification.
Most of those who attend are AASECT Members whom I personally supervise. However, others have also attended, even one from another country! Of course, if you are being supervised by some one else it's a good idea to discuss it with them your current supervisor prior to attending one of these meetings. We meet either at my office in Monterey, or some one else's office or home in another part of California. Attendees bring cases to discuss and questions regarding sex therapy and building successful sex therapy practices. We also share resources. For example, I typically give out copies of handouts I have, such as intake forms, sex history forms, forms useful in helping patients with specific issues, etc.. Cost is very minimal and one needs only to commit to one group meeting at a time.
If you attend an upcoming session please be prepared to share a relevant case you wanting help with. To do this, you might want to keep a standard mental health assessment in mind. This would include:
 Identifying Information
 Presenting Problem
 Psychiatric History
 Medical History
 Psychosocial History
 Course of Treatment
 Diagnosis
  Prognosis
 Conclusion
Treatment Plan
 Question
If you have no relevant case, please come prepared with a relevant issue to explore.
